Bangkok Trip 26th to 29th Nov{11:57 PM}

Finally i have some free time to blog about my Bangkok trip. I still can't believe that i've been to Bangkok. It seems like a dream that ended too fast.

Anqi, Yanru and i took a night flight on Thursday, just a few hours before the Public Holiday. I left on the dot and dashed back home to have dinner with my mum before flying off.

I thought there would be a lot of time for me to rest since i only have to reach the airport by 8.40pm, but crap, i was rushing through my shower, frantically doing last minute packing and trying to find a lock for my luggage. That took up a lot of time. The journey to Changi airport was mad with my phone ringing a little too often. The girls were messaging me (i think twice for both of them) if i had brought the itinerary which we needed to check in. I brought 6 copies. Can't blame me for being so "kiasu". I don't want anything to go wrong.

Surprisely, my mum tagged along when dad sent me to the airport. I thought that she wouldn't want to go. She had once asked me to go to the doctor myself when i was running a fever because she wanted to watch her favourite TV show. Still, i wanted to give my mum a hug before i checked in. But, somehow, i didn't. It's a love-hate relationship between us.

Anyway, i got over that emo-part pretty fast with all the cam-whoring. What's new yea? Haha.

I was ok when the plane took off to Bangkok. However, it's another story when we were coming back. I didn't know i'll shiver so badly during the flight with 1 jacket and a pair of jeans. Freezing in the planes is my phobia now.

Slept most of the time during the flight.

There was arrangement for a driver to pick us up after we have landed. I think we were smart enough to buy cup noodles for supper, because by the time we reached the hotel at around 2am+, my stomach was kind of protesting.

We stayed in Baiyoke Sky Hotel, on the 63th floor!!! Amazing!

Day 1
I slept for 2 hours before starting a brand new day. Luckily, i didn't zonked out.

First stop : Chao Phraya River.

Took a motor-boat (i was expecting sampan for the floating marketing) to a temple which i can't remember what is the name of it.

Evidently, i wasn't interested in the temple at all.

Moreover, we couldn't get into the temple because of our dressing. Thus, we made good use of our time and did some shopping. Anqi got a straw bag after some bargaining. It's true that the trick of walking away works when u find that the price is too expensive. The sellers will call u back. The female seller gave in when we walked away and gave a black face throughout the transaction. -_-"

For me, i did some photo-taking, ok, i mean a lot. I thought a Japanese guy was been really sweet when he volunteered to take a photo for us, but i think all he wanted was to take photos with Chinese girls. I didn't know this until Yanru told me. Naive uh?

Went to the "floating market" after that. It was a huge disappointment for me. I had thought that we will be sitting in a sampan squeezing with many other sampans trying to buy something. But all that we saw was like 5 sampans selling fruits and notebooks.

The highlight of this "floating market" was feeding of the really huge fish in the murky water. Couldn't take a photo of us feeding the fish because my hands were really oily. The tour guide said that we'll be very lucky if we see a white fish. I did see one. It was a white fish with its belly up. A dead fish.

Proceeded to the gem workshop without washing my hands. A boring place to be in when i'm not Bill Gates' wife.

The cheapest they had was S$200. I could buy like a luggage full of clothes with that.

Our last stop for the land tour was MBK Shopping Center. It's like any other shopping center in Singapore. The prices ain't any cheaper, apart from the food. If i didn't remember wrongly, this meal cost less than s$20. Hoho.

Bought food instead of clothes from MBK. 2 bags for each of us.

Did Thai relaxation massage.

Not really relaxing, but at least i'm more relaxed than the 2 of them. Yanru was feeling kind of ticklish when the lady was working on her and she tried talking to me. Tried. Haha. I was actually trying to pay my sleep deficit and rest my feet. Anqi had a sore body after the massage. Relaxation?

Had our welcome drink at the hotel. 20 baht for these drinks. Tips for the waiter.

The place where we had our drinks. Luckily the golfers were professionals. Imagine they hit the ball back, we would have been dead, if not disfigured.

Shopping at Platinum!

This place has 6 floors with 1,500 stores. Sad to say, we didn't manage to finish the whole mall. We had to walk through Pratunam market to get to Platinum. Kind of got a shock when i saw a beggar crawling on the floor, begging for money. This doesn't happen often in Singapore. Saw a little girl who is about 2 years old with a tin can in front of her on the bridge, and her mother is right at the other end where she can't see if her daughter has been abducted. A different culture totally.

Walked back to the hotel around 9pm+ and the 3 of us were holding tight/stick to each other through the dimly lit market. Back in Singapore, i was able to walk without worries even at 4am.

Day 2

Took a photo with a tuk tuk after i was too afraid to hire one on the roads. We got extorted on Day 1 when we took a cab from MBK back to our hotel. The cabbie had agreed to use meter instead of a flat rate, but i didn't know he was distracting me on the way to the main road, saying that he didn't know where is Baiyoke Sky Hotel. When we got onto the main road, he demanded for 250 baht instead.

Was darn pissed on the way back and the 3 of us started conversing in Mandarin, with the cabbie constantly asking me what are we talking about. When we had reached our destination, the cabbie had wanted to drop us off opposite the hotel where there are no porters around. I kind of ordered him to turn into our hotel and let us alight there. Asked the girls to alight first while i took out 100 baht for him. That idiot actually said i agreed to pay him 250 bucks when i didn't say yes at all. I negotiated with him saying that i would pay him 150 baht but he requested for at least 200 baht. That's when i got really pissed and said "100 bath, take it or leave it". And he reached for my 100 baht. Got out of the car and received a "fuck you" from him. I hear that everyday.

Was in a "i want to bite your head off" mood the whole journey until i was at hotel's lift that realisation sinked it. I was in a foreign land and i have no idea how to communicate with the people there. Would be helpless if anything happens. That's when i started to panic. A little too slow. Oh well, the rest of the cabbies we met were fine.

Went to Chatuchak and burnt under the merciless sun.

Shopping as usual. The shaved ice we had saved my life. It's really hot there.

I don't think we finished a quarter of the place. We didn't covered the animals and houseware section.

Cabbed throughout our Bangkok trip. I didn't dare to sleep on all the trips we had, even the airport transfer from our hotel to the airport. Another phobia. Haha.

Had buffet lunch at our hotel. Was too tired to move after we dropped off our shopping bags.

Went to Platinum again after lunch. Had Dunkin' Donuts for dinner. They are really cheap there!

Packed our stuff in the night. Will post more pictures of our "medals" when i get the photos. I don't think any guy would want to join us for any trip when he sees the number of things we bought.

Day 3

Woke up an hour earlier than normal so that we can revisit Pratunam market. They usually shift and disappear at 10am and we wanted to have ample time to get more stuff. We were at the market before 8am. Kind of fooled when we realised that the stalls were physically there for the whole afternoon on Sunday. -_-"

I woke up so early.

Lunched at Indra Regent. Something unique about the shopping centers in Bangkok is that wherever u can find Dunkin' Donuts, u will be able to find Black Canyon Coffee and Swensens. It comes as a package.

Made our way back to Singapore a few hours after lunch. Our baggage were all overweight with the shopping we had done. Didn't know that our shopping frenzy was so hardcore. Remember my freezing phobia in planes? I wanted to wear sockings beneath my jeans but removed it when it got really hot and armed myself with 2 jackets. I still felt a little cold. Got so nervous that i pushed Anqi's hand off when the plane was moving off. Sorry uh.

Managed to arrive in Bangkok in one piece and returned to Singapore in one piece. We made it. Learnt a lot in this trip. The 3 of us complement each other really well. Shall not say all the mushy stuff here, but i really really really love the girls!

They are a part of me. =) I feel at home with them around.

Thou has conquered Bangkok's shopping. More to come.

Signing off. VeE
